Good Hammers vs. Bad Hammers

A good hammer is necessary for proper tone.  As the piano is played, the hammer felt compacts and develops string cuts, causing a harsh un-even tone.  I correct this problem by "shaving" the hammer head to smooth the surface and then "voicing" the piano.
